Looks like these other threads explain the way to do it using Session mode:

Session + Shift is apparently the answer.

Re: PUSH: Move focus to track 9 to 16
I have this exact same question!
Here's the problem:
Turn on Push 1 with a session that has more than 8 tracks.
Press Track button
Lowest (4th) row on display lists Tracks 1 through 8 from left to right.
Right above that on the 3rd row, it says "Track Selection: # Track Name"
Press the Right arrow ...

Re: Recommend a non Apple Monitor for Macbook Pro
I'm a huge fan of the 27" and 28" models out there with 1920x1200 resolution. I'm running a Hanns-G HG281D. Have heard good things about the Samsung model too.

Re: No Ableton Share - Where to buy hosting space? Experiences?
Our band's been using our own web server with the widely-available, Unison utility. It runs on our Macs and the LINUX-based web server, and it uses two-way rsync synchronizations to keep the server copy up to date. The reason we use it is that it's smart enough to only transfer the files that have ...

Re: One Instrument Belonging to TWO or More Choke Groups
There's another way to pull this off using NESTED choke groups and chains. If we could nest choke groups, then we could do this:
Put the open hi-hat rim and open hi-hat pad into one chain with NO choke group (so that they do not choke each other).
Put the chain and the hi-hat pedal into one choke ...

One Instrument Belonging to TWO Choke Groups OR Nested Choke
By the title I mean that one instrument can belong to say, choke group 1 AND choke group 2.
There's a really, really good reason for this: hi-hats.
My hi-hat trigger recognizes a pad and a rim section with different note values for each. For the purposes of this discussion, we'll only focus on the ...

Recommend be-bop drum kits that work well in Live 8?
I just bought Suite 8 with Session Drums, and while I like the kits in there, it's disappointing that there are no jazz drumkits included.
By jazz kits I mean stuff like be-bop kits with higher-tuned drums with thin heads, light sticks, and lots of overtones/harmonics. More important, I'm looking ...

You rock! I will go back and re-read that page...

Um, page 159 isn't the right page, but I think you explained it well enough for us to figure out now. Thanks!

Yup, you nailed it. We got it working right away. It makes sense now--thanks!

Re: Play a clip an exact, non-random number of times?
Cool, cool. How do we set it so that it plays the clip exactly four times?
To be sure, we didn't really understand what's in the manual. I wish there were more examples in that section.
Thanks for your continued help!

Re: Play a clip an exact, non-random number of times?
Sorry for our ignorance, but could you be more specific or point us to a tutorial/example of how to actually set up the Follow Action pane to do this? We can find the Next choice in the drop-down selector, but what numbers do we type into the other fields to turn off the randomness and specify the ...

With Monitor set to Auto, you will only be able to monitor the Record-Enabled tracks.
Sorry, I can't help with your other questions--we're still noobs to Live.

Re: Fitting Tempo Grid to MIDI Drum Pattern
Thanks for all the great suggestions. We tried most of them and found that the select all and stretch works reasonably well if we first cut it down to just a few bars that we want to loop.
And by predetermining a tempo and running the metronome on all the time before laying down the track, I can ...

Play a clip an exact, non-random number of times?
Hi, everyone!
Now, we're total noobs to Live, so I apologize in advance if our questions seem lame. I have tried searching but don't really know what to search for.

Re: Fitting Tempo Grid to MIDI Drum Pattern
Well, stretching the notes turned out to be nightmare. I'm using the Carbon drumkit, and there appears to be some sort of built in delay with the hi hat or snare. If I stretch the notes, the delay gets all out of whack.
So I absolutely must be able to pull the notes exactly as they are and shift ...
