anyone composing without a piano background?
I know how to play guitar and I know how the piano & music in general works. How to build chords, scales etc.. But I believe I am losing a lot by not playing fluently the instrument. I mean one can program lines chords etc, But a further management of the keyboard could lead to better ideas or not ...

Do people actually compose in key??
I cant imagine someone saying lets just compose in C major..
or do they? for example.. I am going to compose the intro of the song in C major then for the rest of the song I am going to modulate to B minor and stay there???

Hello guys so I play guitar have some knowledge on theory play some piano but still a little bit lost on how to apply it correctly
In guitar what I used to do was jam along the modal jam tracks my teacher gave me..
for example he gave me a E dorian backing track and I just jam with the Edorian ...

if you can create interesting tracks/progressions/melodies without knowing the theory behind them, then why put the energy in to learn?

How is your creative process?
I normally
just jam with the keyboard until I find a progression I like..not thinking in theory or anything
the I add drums
work on synthesise a good sound for that progression
then simply add bass that harmonize with the progression..
and continue filling the spectrum with lead sound stabs etc..

so.. any one succesfully making music without knowing to play piano??
I come from a guitar background and so far I can see piano playing is nowhere near lead sound or bass sounds you program in a synth.
