How is your creative process?

Post by felipescalador12 » Thu Jul 07, 2011 10:28 pm

I normally

just jam with the keyboard until I find a progression I like..not thinking in theory or anything
the I add drums
work on synthesise a good sound for that progression
then simply add bass that harmonize with the progression..
and continue filling the spectrum with lead sound stabs etc..

Pretty poor.

Ok, I usually bang in a generic drum beat with standard kit. Then mess around with sounds or a melody if I actually have something in my head. Sometimes get guitar out here. Add a few synth bits and pieces quickly and see if anything's working. If so, ditch the original drums and try to come up with something a bit more interesting. Then go back to all the synth parts and spend too long tweeking. If i'm still feeling it, do some drum variations then throw into arrange view and go from there.

Usually get stuck at the tweeking synth stage and decide it's all a steaming pile of shit. Not always though.

Total shite can get loads of plays and sell loads, whereas really good stuff can remain virtually unheard. Fuck all to do with the music - all about promotion.
Nothing to see here - move along!
