thanks for the reply but i don't want to undo allocations, i want to make them, manually

so for instance

cc41 - track 1 vol
cc42 - track 1 pan
cc43 - track 1 send etc.

the trouble is I am sending live cc41, cc42, cc43....cc(n) continuously, every 10ms - far too fast to select a new parameter ...

does anyone know of a way to map midi cc messages that doesn't involve activating MIDI map mode

essentially I am trying to map an arbitrarily large no of controllers at once (from a max patch via the IAC driver)

the problem is if you have several messages going into Live at once MIDI map mode ...

i have an MPD 24 and managed to work out some of the auto-map stuff

obviously the faders automap to track volume

what wasn't obvious to me initially is that the 8 rotary encoders can auto map to the macro controls on any rack using the following CC messages

Macro 1 - Ctrl 15
Macro 2 - Ctrl 16 ...

Still, I have noticed that sometimes you need to turn a knob through the full range of CC values before it will be picked up by Ableton.
this seems to be the way with more than just the MPD series. my Remote Zero and Axiom 25 pretty much act the same way.
