Erm, you do realize that I wrote people crashing , don't you? I mean like drinking and partying too hard. Geez, tell me about personal vendettas.
Besides that, I am an invited beta-tester for RME, XLN Audio, U-He, Parallels, Paragon and another DAW maker. So I know quite well how report ...

Re: Live 8 crashes, Apple only?
Hm, somehow this all sounds so familiar...

My educated guess is that thousands of people are crashing every night in small pubs to gigantic stadiums.Every night thousands of people rock crowds all over this planet - from small pubs to gigantic stadiums - without crashing at all.

Re: Live 8 crashes, Apple only?
Which means that you never repeatedly changed buffer sizes with NI plugins being active = Crash gallore. On both Windows and OS X though, so it's a draw.simpleton wrote:I've never had Live crash on my windoze machines thru the yearz. I think if you stay away from the porn sites you'll be fine.

Re: MIDI latency (again i guess)
Did you try turning off Live's Delay Compensation (Options menu) to find out if it's connected to that?
It's well possible that your interface is the culprit though. How many Midi notes/events are transfered and what Midi drivers do you use (CoreMidi, MME, DirectMusic)? If you are on Windows try ...

Re: pc to mac set compatibility
As long as you are only using VST (not AU on the Mac side) you should be fine. We repeatedly switched platforms without problems with Live 7, should work the same with 8.

Re: LiveAPI and beating the midi sync wobble
what i'm thinking is just sending a play message to ableton and rellying on the fact that the bpms are the smae to stay in sync. Almost like pressing space bar at excatly the same time.
In that case you might want to use MTC instead of Midi Clock Sync. This enabled you to have everything in sync ...

Re: Ableton Live alternative?
It makes little sense to ask for Live to follow common (what you call "compatible") GUI design rules, because one major point about using Live is to get away from those. There are lots of classically build DAWs out there, but some people want "alternatives" and thus use Live.

Re: Using knobs as arrow keys
If you want to have the knob as a general cursor-up/down you need extra software that translates Midi into keyboard commands and do some manual working to get it going.
