Hi,

i am trying different time signatures out and i noticed, i can only enter powers of 2 into the Denominator? so 1,2,4,8,16 and i have to set the global grid manually to triplet, so that i can get for example 2/3 pulse going.
Is it possible to achieve the 2/3 of 2/5 in a global way?

I suppose it's because you played either a Eb or a E# after/before a E (more likely an E#). If neither the Eb nor the E# are in the scale/mode, then it's been rounded to E.
I'm not a "Modes Head" (even though I'm the mod here 🤪) so I'm just guessing ...

I am playing around with Scale modes.

So i MIDI bounced C-maj lydian (with the scale device) and the E in the mode was bounced twice, while it should be a F.

Can somebody verify this? Or i am just tripping?

i did set up a some MIDI devices, is there a way to bounce that actual midi data into a new MIDI clip?

Like for example:
Pitch +2
Scale - has Lydian mode selected

How can i see those real notes in the MIDI clip?

Preset made for the Scale MIDI effect can only be used with said effect.
You cannot add custom scales to the current clip scale lists.

i find this a bit poor by Ableton to make global scales hardcoded.

a possible hack might be to go the extra mile over a scl file, made ...

So i was trying to add a new scale with the Scale MIDI Effect.
But it didnt show up globally (in midi clips and global scale feature).

I saved the Scale preset and then copied into the Core Library, deleted Ableton Database, to reforce a rescanning of the Core Library.

The FIle is there, but ...

As moving to Linux brings a whole new pallette of problems, and Win 11 isn't an option for me in October '25, I have more or less decided to move to an Akai Professional Force ecosystem. Not ideal too for everything, but as far as I can see now, good enough for my modest needs.

So I took Angstrom's suggestion (not the one above sadly) but the one to buy Live 12 at the intro price but not actually install it until the first big update. So last week I finally upgraded from Live 11 to 12. So many new things added. Cool. Now let's read the manual to see what these things do ...
