The whole industry is gradually going 64bit and Omnisphere, among other VST-instruments, are starting to push the 32-bit limits. Ableton Live needs to catch up. That´s a fact.

I have the same issue, honestly.

I'm running low with 4 EWQLSO (24-bit samples) sections: Contrabass/Double basses, Cellos, Trombones, and French Horns. I have all 3 mic positions activated for each section, and I'm sucking up 1.8GB of RAM. I WILL run out if I try to add woodwinds, violins, and ...

+1, for what it's worth. Critical stuff. Ideally with an adjustable buffer. Heck, make it 10 minutes long. I swear I'll use it that far back. :)

I've been working with Omnisphere, East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra and EWQL Pianos, and NI Kontact4. With EWQL under Ableton, I can barely load the Steinway. Omnisphere is also RAM intensive. Under Cubase 5.5 64-bit I have no issues on my system, which has 10GB of fast memory and an i7 ...

Ableton Live runs just fine on Windows 7 64-bit.
But since Ableton Live is a 32-bit (and not a 64-bit) application it cannot use more than about 3GB of RAM before it runs out and goes belly-up... regardless of how much RAM you actually have installed in your machine and recognized by the operating ...
