If you press "EXT" in the up left hand side of Live next to the "Tempo counter" it will play the song at it's original BPM and not effect the tempo of the entire set. Not sure if that is what you are looking for.

I have the Axiom 49 hooked up to Live 8 on my XP machine for home and it works with no problems at all...really simple set up. Our "Gig Rig" is an HP Touch with Vista 64...when I get it hooked up on that I will let you know if I am experiencing the same problem or if it goes ok...hang in there.
