i've been trying to figure out how to do this.

i use live for everything.

i've had really good luck with the litmus of what you describe. if somebody is getting really torqued about what you are up to.....keep doing it, that means you are onto something good.

i was particularly poorly received....so...i just got a bunch of loops going and then checked into my flight and then got back to work.

how can you NOT sample that stuff and make other things out of it?

you can change the time signature right there too.

i used an mpc for pretty good while and made several records and prolly did about 300 live gigs with one. all the zip disks and everything [back in the day]. it never laid down and worked great.
but i gotta say, if i had one here, i can't imagine that i would hardly ever even turn it on really ...

here's what's happening. when i have a set open if i try to open another set from there in the "most recent sets" thing in the menu bar, it will crash ...

i live over by port townsend.

start screwing around with it, only using the manual when you get in a jam.
keep playing around.
spend lots of time.

go back to playing around.
spend lots of time.
check out online resources.
go back to messing around and having fun ...

if they didn't like it, they wouldn't pay you. sometimes you have to redo the whole thing. maybe they have something about it they want you to simply change which is not bad or hard. and yes you could have worked on it for days.
