I can't seem to "control" my hardware synths via live!

When i record a midi clip and let it play(let's say a lead sound from my yamaha cs6x) i can't "tweak" the filter when live/the clip is playing.

I'n new te the program and have a problem that i can't seem to figure out.

Is it possible to send midi CC from my hardware via Live to my hardware?
(e.g whem i make a midi clip that play's a lead sound from my CS6x, i want to use the filter cutoff knob to tweak the filter while live is ...
