I'm looking at getting an I-Mac G5 2.1ghz, with 1.5gb of ram as I can't afford a powemac G5 with added the screen costs as well.

I'm just wondering is this machine going to be ok for rendering two hour mixes in Live 5 and also recording analougue mixes into bias peak. Is a 7200rpm hard drive ok ...

I was just wondering, as I love Live 5 for the of of use of dropping samples, loops etc when dj'ing with it, but at the same time I miss mixing with vinyl, cds and working a mixer. So can it be linked with scratch ...

When you open up an mp3 file for editing, edit it, then save, if you save it at the same quality as before. Is quality lost even more so as u are again compressing the audio file?

If its the same, what about files that are variable bit rate. If u edit it, remix or it or whatever, when u save it ...

well...the software I want is Abelton Live 5, Reason 3, Bias Peak and Rane Scratch Live.

What do you reckon?

I will be buying 3/4 months from now, when I return to England from Taiwan.

So........Should I wait for intel macs which, by then, will be coming quite soon or just get a powerpc mac.

Could someone explain this...

Raid 0, 0+1, 5 and 5+hot spare....to do with hard drives.

Basically...I'm going to be being a main pc to store, edit, produce tunes and a laptop for dj'ing. So I am goin to get an external HD for extra larges storage. But I am a bit confused by these raid options ...

What do you think? Is it worth waiting for the Mac Intel's or should I just buy a Power PC Mac now?

ahh...so it does to with preventing the hard drive bein heard, rather than the hard drive being interfered with.
