I'm having a bit of trouble with it on a Mac. Mainly that it crashes when I try to use the effects Obv just came out, so hopefully all the kinks are worked out soon!

No need to keep multiple copies of older versions, just use the Terminal to open a new instance of the same application using the open command with the -n flag

open -n /Applications/Live\ 8.0.9\ OS\ X/Live.app

How is that different from just dragging the ALS file in?

I can do that but it adds new tracks on top of the tracks I already have, rather than before, and does't copy over any of the automation on the master track (some effects and crossfades)

well that transfers the clips in, and if you do it in arrangement view they are in the "right place" however it does not add them to the beginning of the second arrangement, nor does it copy over any of the send/return tracks nor the crossfades..... (?????)

So I have an entire section of a song (let's call it "beginning" for kicks) set up in arrangement view, complete with many automated parameters and many clips. Now I want to take over all that and insert it into the beginning of an entirely different ableton project and not lose all my automation ...
