Seeking MA/NH musicians toExperiment w/improvised minimalism
Hello,
I’m looking for people in the MA/NH area to form a very big group...no specific number in mind, but maybe 20 or more? I have no preference as to instrumentation: the more eclectic, the better.
My goal for this group is to experiment with improvised minimalism. I have no interest in music ...

Remaster non-Live recordings in Live?
I have some old stuff I recorded before I got Live, which I want to release. But the volume from song to song is inconsistent. How can I best use Live to fix this?
I know I can increase/decrease gain on audio samples, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't change the sample itself, only how it's played ...

Re: Quantizing samples?
Even with the global time signature adjusted, Live still was not correctly interpreting the sample. I think because the global BPM was still 120. So for example, it would treat a sample that was 1-bar of 5/4 as if it contained 7 beats.

Re: Quantizing samples?
But changing the time signature in the clip properties box doesn't seem to actually change how Ableton measures a beat within that one sample. It seems to still follow the global tempo. In fact, I'm pretty sure the little help box in the bottom left corner says the time signature is "for reference ...

Quantizing samples?
How can I quantize samples?
I'm in session view and I'll record a long audio sample (maybe a few minutes long), and then I want to crop a few seconds of that sample and loop it, and build from there. Ableton doesn't know the BPM of this cropped sample (nor do I), the global tempo remains at 120. So ...

Quick question about opening Live Set in different versions
I'm using Live 8 and want to send a Live Set to a friend who's using Live 7. Will he be able to open that file? If not, other than just sending him a WAV, is there something I can do to make the Live Set file backwards-compatible?

Does Tranzport have MIDI note for pan right/left?
I'm doing the whole "Tranzport Emulation" thing with my Behringer FCB1010 and was wondering if there's a MIDI note for panning right/left?
One guide I looked at said the MIDI decimal for "pan" is 10 (the hexadecimal is 0A) -- is this universal? Should this work if I program "10" into the controller ...

Re: Tranzport Emulation: How do I do this?!
Sweet! I went down an octave like you said and that worked. So I've got the basic commands figured out:
- Track right/left
- Arm current track
- Start/stop recording current clip
Maybe I'm getting greedy but I'm wondering if anyone out there has the MIDI notes for some other commands, like ...

Re: How to move left-right track-to-track with MIDI controller?
Is there a step I'm missing? I found Behringer's MIDI note number for C-1 as an example, which according to one post in the forum should arm the current track for recording. But when I programmed that into the Behringer, nothing happened when I hit that switch...

Re: Issues mapping Behringer FCB1010 -- wrong control commands!
OK, I'll give MIDI notes a try instead of control commands...
But the next question is, how do I use "Tranzport Emulation" to execute commands that can't be mapped through the standard way? Like moving left/right between tracks, arming the current track for recording, start/stop recording on the ...

Tranzport Emulation: How do I do this?!
I've come to the conclusion that, in order to have my MIDI foot-controller (Behringer FCB1010) do things like move left/right between tracks, arm the current track for recording, and start/stop recording on the current track, I will either need to install a MIDI translator program on my system, or I ...

Issues mapping Behringer FCB1010 -- wrong control commands!
I'm using the Behringer FCB1010 MIDI foot-controller with Live 8, and for the most part programming its control commands and mapping them to Live is pretty easy. For some reason though, switches 5, 7 and 10 always come out wrong. No matter what control command I program, Ableton reads switch 5 as ...
