How to move left-right track-to-track with MIDI controller?

Post by mldrink » Fri Nov 13, 2009 6:29 pm

First let me say this is my first experience with music software, so if you feel like responding, please explain things as if talking to a 5-year-old...

My question is, how can I map my MIDI controller (Behringer FCB1010) to move left-right track-to-track? I've been told I need a second program like Bomes MIDI Translator to do this...is that the only way?

If this question has already been answered, I would greatly appreciate it if you could include the link to the page that contains the answer.

Thanks.

In Live's preferences, turn on one of the Control Surface menu by choosing Tranzport. Now you just need to send the midi messages for tack left and right for tranzport from your begringer. You'll have to search this forum for tranzport emulation To find the list of midi notes but I know that it's on midi channel 1.

Is there a step I'm missing? I found Behringer's MIDI note number for C-1 as an example, which according to one post in the forum should arm the current track for recording. But when I programmed that into the Behringer, nothing happened when I hit that switch...

Once I've chosen "Tranzport" as my control surface and theoretically found all the MIDI notes I need, what do I do then?

You have the right idea. It looks like you're looking at this thread:

Those notes are for padKontrol. Each device manufacturer can and usually do have different assignment for what C1 means for them. I know the padKontrol is one octave off from Live's mapping (up or down I don't remember). Send the right note (remember to use channel 1) and it should work for you.
