Re: MJ Harmonic Ping Only - OS X Snow Leopard

cheers David -
my apologies; i was referring to the default AU location in os x.4.11 (tiger), i.e. /Library/Audio/Presets.

all of the macs i've check running snow leopard (and leopard, so 10.5 and 10.6) have empty /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components directories.

i realize this is almost pointless ...

Re: MJ Harmonic Ping Only - OS X Snow Leopard

i just had an opportunity to check a mac running tiger (10.4.11) - the audio units are kept in
/Library/Audio/Presets

weird....
if anyone has any suggestions, i'd love to hear them -- just for peace of mind.

Hi David -
David Abravanel wrote:As to the Library, did you have a custom folder set up for plug-ins in Live 8.1?
no special set up at all. it's very curious...

thanks for the reply - i'll try getting in touch with the smartelectronix folks.

MJ Harmonic Ping Only - OS X Snow Leopard

hi all -

i was using the MJ Harmonic Ping Only vst from Magnus @ smartelectronix way back when i used a powerbook (PPC). i'd like to keep using it, but can't get Live to see the vst. any suggestions?

zeddy -
i've been using an audiofire 8 for a few years. i think it's just ducky. i'm on a mac, so your mileage will certainly vary, but i think very, very highly of echo's hardware.

Re: An apple fanboys tale of woe [long rant and OT]

i've been talking pc construction with a co-worker (specifically to run multiple OSs) and he pointed me towards a page that lists the problems and work-arounds for a bunch of different motherboards/chipsets & OS X. typical problems seemed to be things like: sleep doesn't always work, etc.

i can't ...

two MIDI cables are required - one for OUT-IN and second for IN-OUT, I was having the same problem, and a second cable fixed it right up.

Try different sample rates maybe?

+1 for Tone Deft. No homework breaks tonight, but I do recall instances where 44kHz was noise-free, while 48 & 36 were impossible to deal with. When you make a change in the Echo Console, do all of your settings automatically change to the same setting ...

other than trying to get rid of iCalAlarmScheduler (assuming you're on a Mac), I'm not sure what else to recommend.

I'll be taking a homework break sometime this evening. I'll mess around & see if anything else might turn up.

another AF8 user here, and I have to admit that I haven't had this specific issue, although once or twice i've experienced something similar.

you might try checking Activity Monitor to make sure that iCalAlarmScheduler isn't running - if it is, force quit that process. that process ...

no worries -- the audiofire console isn't the easiest thing to figure out. if I had a nickel for every time its confused the hell out of me, i'd have, like, at *least* $1. maybe a $1.50.

when I picked up my 8 last spring, I had some difficulties using the Console & Maurice in Tech Support was pretty patient in answering the questions that weren't addressed by the manual. Since the release of the 2.06 Beta though, I haven't really needed to contact support.

Of course, I ...

all -

AudioFire 8 user here, and I can say that overall I've had a pretty positive experience in all regards to Echo's equipment, tech support, etc.

HOWEVER, I guess I'm taking the thread off topic, as I'm on a PowerBook 1.67 gHz, so I guess my opinion isn't so hot.

Good luck,

So, thanks!

Yeah, I know...it's pretty weird. All[/] of the PDFs are messed up, and unfortunately I don't have a Windoze box handy....

Don't suppose I could get you to email me a copy of yours? PM if that's cool.
Thanks a bunch -
