If you are playing synth and samples, you might be able to get away with just putting your drummer on a click track so that the percussion matches the bpm of the samples.
If it's just synth, you probably have no problem just playing it live.
I run samples with a live band and I just put the ...

Re: downtown LA ableton users

My name is Elias and one of my bands is dafuniks so type in Elias and Dafuniks and you'll get some of my shows and here the style of music. Re: Laptop Recommendation
After posting for a while and trying to decide what I should get, it seems like the concencus is that Macbook Pro is the best. I think you can run Ableton Live with just a macbook but it doesn't have firewire and the Macbook Pro does.

Re: Macbook Pro
thank you guys. I know it's newb of me, but dropping 2G's on something that you don't fully understand is a little bit nerve wracking. I'm 100% sure now that I'm going to go with a Macbook Pro with at least 4gb of DDR ram. Should last me a while it appears. I want to plug and play man, that's it.

Re: Macbook Pro
No. I do music but I'm NOT a tech guy. So, I've been asking around with a lot of people to find the right approach. You get ALOT of conflicting messages. My current sound guy that runs the ableton uses an HP laptop to run everything and a M-audio delta 1010 interface. Some people scream that that is ...

Anyone here use a Macbook pro with ableton live at live shows?
I asked a question about laptops a while ago in a thread and got different answers. I've been talking to everyone I know about the system I ought to get and quite frankly, I need to get going on it for my band's sake and I've decided ...

Re: new macbook pro 13" 2.53. middle age crisis or a good buy?
I think it's a good buy. I'm about to buy either a 15" or 17" although I hear the 17's get a bit floppy on the screens after a while. My lust might be getting the better part of me, but after having tons of questions about PC's all the guys really performing with their machines all the time seem to ...

Re: Low Latency Soundcards
I'm about to hit the road and start gigging here in the US with a band using ableton live and this conversation is helpful. I plan on being alot more serious about music and I need a backup system to the one that I have and I guess I may have to save gig money to get the RME...I want something that ...

Re: How much are you charging your clients?
I think there are two good ways to do it--you could charge 20-30 an hour depending on your skill level. But it's better to book people for half days. It's more guaranteed money and you can get more done. Let's say you do 5 hours of recording. Charge them 130. Money in the bank and then you charge ...

Re: show me your portable case for live?!...
@Sage---that was bought on Amazon.com It's kind of cool since it looks like a crate top. Very lite and sturdy too. Better than a crappy little white dj table.

Re: show me your portable case for live?!...
I just bought an SKB Studio flyer Portable rack. Has a little area for a laptop. Use an HP Pavilion DV6 entertainment laptop loaded with Windows 7, M-Audio Delt 1010, Ableton Live 8, and an APC 40. http://i.ebayimg.com/01/!Bj3UopgBmk~$(KGrHqQOKjoEsnD4HjvzBLVLc)CGf!~~_35.JPG
