i am looking to get a cheap midi controller for korg volca and other hardware synths with 5 pin midi in. However most cheap midi controllers are usb midi only (i believe these are for pc only and not compatible). I have only come across the alesis q25 with a midi out (is this compatible anyway ...

my laptop is now past it, so i'm thinking of getting a mac and using my copy of live 5 on a mac (you can use it on 2 computer right?). Does anyone know if it will be compatable?

yeap same for me - originality is what counts, there is some good remixes and sample based mix out there but I feel it is the exception. Alot of remixes are a money making scam. Also I rarely use samples myself.

Are studio monitor speakers required or are hi-fi speakers up to the task?

I'd don't have monitors but use hi-fi speakers and I was under the impression this was a bad thing - but now I think I'll save my money by not getting some.

i heard that attack times of around 5 to 10 are good and slowish release, is this any good?
