1 cannot believe it, the worst since Hitler is dead. That I wont be able to record tomorrow ( the trumpet player lives in Mainz- the Bush zone) is a minor thing, the factories, offices, raliway traffic, motorways in the radius of 100 miles around Frankfurt the entire life in one of the most important industrial centers of Germany will be frozen, in fact not just tomorrow , it is already partialy today. I spend lots of time in some totalitarian countries including Cuba, yet I have never seen such security madness
Germany is definitely ( me too) Amreican friendly country. What would be security measures in less US friendly , nuke the population ?
This is so insane, it shows how insecure is that texan imbecil. It is shame that Germans allows themselves to be terrorised by some other countries president. You feel insecure, then bloody stay in your puta Casa Blanca, but do not fuck my life through your cowdung stinking presence.
If US does not want french DJ, OK ...nobody wants US president here in Europe

States are law breaking violent entities. I could go on about a US president being in Germany and going back to its support of the Nazis and the big fascim craze before the US got involved in WW2, or the interest of the largest European economy and how our lives are becoming ruled by market economies and the unaccountable corporations that rule them. But I won't.
It sucks and I'm sorry to hear the news. You have only to blame us Americans for our political ineptitude. I don't know why so many Americans voted against their own interests election after election.
I'm an American as well.

Ugh, why do I keep having to feel embarassed for my country at times like this?
I read this quote from Hunter S. Thompson yesterday an online obituary:
I read this quote from Hunter S. Thompson yesterday an online obituary:
"I believe the Republicans have seen what they've believed all along, which is that this democracy stuff is bull, and that people don't want to be burdened by political affairs. That people would rather just be taken care of. The oligarchy doesn't need an educated public. And maybe the nation does prefer tyranny. I think that's what worries me. It goes back to Fourth Amendment issues. How much do you value your freedom? Would you trade your freedom for some illusion of security? Freedom is something that dies unless it's used."
Let me write some details, the streets of the city of Mainz cleared up, no parking all over the place ( form today already), police entering private apartments, shops etc etc checking the security, actually it all look like some bad science fiction.
The very idea of some security jerks entering my apartment or studio searching it just because you live near strrets where a president of some alien country is going to pass. What a fuck is wrong with europeans, how can they take this shit. I thought it was just Tony the chain dog. How it could be that travels of citizen of another country (even if he is a president) affect so much private and professional live of the locals. In this case the lives of millions of people are disturbed because of one bloody cowboy.
Well my american friends you are not unloved here, yesterday another US citizen came here, tremendous welcome, adored by thousands - Germans do love Snoop. But amazing thing is the number of young muslims Turks, Arabs, Iranians in their hiphop cloths, neraly half of the fans, seems the rapper does better job fighting islamic fundamentalist then CIA and US army. Hiphop is a way of living that attracts lot of young muslims in Europe. I think it is healthy alternative very hard for Osamas to fight. Music, dance and sex alternative to terrorist training in Afganistan.

Yea, there's some truth to that rikhyray
but it's one of the problems also.
I wish all countries embraced & evolved their OWN music without mimicing music from the usa marketing machine & yes, creativity... (I LOVE arab & Persian music too!!)
I went to the Andes once and was shocked that the youth were all dressing with Levis & baseball caps on while listening to (mostly) American rap!!! Yikes!
Is this what I want to see & hear in the Andes?

PS I normally stay out of this.

You think that's bad. I'm currently living in Taiwan and 50cent has been scientifically cloned all over the island!rand wrote:Yea, there's some truth to that rikhyray

get over it. this kind of crap is the same as paying taxes. it just happens, there is nothing you can do to stop it. there is no point in getting upset about trying to stop it.
it all goes in cycles. a few years of a god-fearing christian like bush will do the world no net harm. next guy will be a liberal, and so on and so on.
germany is a horrible country anyway. I've never been there, but I always imagine it to be wet, grey and filled with dreary industrial towns and square-faced anally retentive neophobes in corduroy trousers.
truly, just joking.
I just get irritated with people moaning about Bush. We all know he is a moron. 50% of the US support him. There is nothing that the rest of the planet can do about it.
Can we not just get back to discussing whether Jan Hammer really is Sasha's genetic father? Politics is so naff.

I agree; at this point, I'm equally tired of hearing the same two altranating news stories in the US press.. (a) Curious Bush does something bad!, or (b) country x blew some shit up in country y in the middle east because of what y did to x last week. At least a few weeks ago, a slight change of pace was interjected, which was (c) look at all the shit this tsunami tore up!anonymouse wrote:get over it. this kind of crap is the same as paying taxes. it just happens, there is nothing you can do to stop it. there is no point in getting upset about trying to stop it.

Regardless, I still think it's a worthy topic of conversation. As a future ex-pat to Europe, what Germans think about American policy is an important issue to me, but it should also be equally important to other Americans for obvious reasons. Perhaps if it was, we wouldn't be in this mess to begin with, really....
And if you're getting "sick of it" (as I am), then I guess that means we should either do something about it or give up, as you suggest. I, personally, am equally tired of the blue-state mentality of "oh well, NOTHING we can do now!".
Anyways, enough ranting for one day. Let's get back to dissing sasha and tiesto some more.

I feel your pain. I work a block from Madison Square Garden and when the Republican National Convention held NYC hostage last fall the security was beyond belief. I witnessed them tear the pavement out of 32nd Street and repave it with x-ray equipment imbeded in the road.
Funny, how all this security is the direct result of a severe sense of insecurity.
I think the Fear and Loathing dude was on the money with his thoughts of this country accepting tyranny. I truly wish our country was more accepting of French DJs.
