Acapellas

[Relentless]

I am having some troubles getting Acapellas to match up with tempo. Are there any tips or tricks anyone can offer me? Also, When bringing in an acapella, is there a prefered way anyone would like to share? Would it be using sampler, dragging it into the arrangement view and cutting and pasting sements into the tracks? I am kind of at a loss, if anyone is willing to kind of help me throught the whole process it would more than appreciated.

My 2 cents:

Use warping in Session mode. Drag it in, listen to the Original tune identifiy the one on the acapella by comparing to the Original, set start marker to the one and use metronome, btw: no warp markers only the first on the one. then adjust tempo in clip settings and always use beat mode to adjust you can switch modes at last. If acapella is retrieved from a record and got slightly changing tempi due to this, set a new warp marker everytime it drifts away from the metronome.

that is at least the way i do it, but you need to be good in handling those warp markers with shift and strg etc.

Thanks for the info. I am kind of on the same boat. Ofcourse I am new at it so still experimenting.

The process I am trying to work with is, I drag the acappella into the session view. But I want only certain clips to play at certain times. So i am using the arrangment view to copy and paste a portion of the acappella into the session view creating a scene for each sample. Is this recommended? Then i will find that the beat drifts during the sample making it a real pain to warp. All the tutorials I have seen about warping are really basic, I guess more than anything, I need a more in depth knowledge on warping, maybe that would be the most beneficial. And advice will help heh.

ps all the accapellas are digital, as far as I know... that is, haha

Old skool way was to have copy of the original track and the acapella to hand.

Line both up untill the vocals sit exactly to the original.

Then delete the original....

Nowadays, with live you also have the option of warping.

Best to warp the orig track first so it keeps to the beat for the entire song.

Then line up the pella as before, may need to move some markers to get it to sit right...

It gives a good idea about the options you got. Especially that the Live 7 way of the warp (lol) is still possible and at times might come in handy. I won`t post tips, since my only other post in this headline of warping got some negative feedback. Nevertheless i do stay with my way of warping, since it works quite good on those vinyl acapellas i use from time to time.
