HELP! Problem USB-Quattro/OSX NEED AN INTERFACE FOR DRUMS!

Hi, i´ve got problems with the usb-quattro with osx (Latency, audio-drop-outs) - i´m searching for a fast solution for an audio-interface - i would be interested in an "all-in-one" solution like the tascam fw 1082 or 1884...any experiences?

I create songs in reason and add the vocals and - my part: play the drums (V-Drums and BFD) per Audio in and Midi in into live....

and that´s the problem....it doesnt work...(latency lower than 3MS ist not possible...dropouts.....when i play the drums the system (cpu) seems to get dropouts or work slowly....

1) is this a problem with life? (my computer is fast)
2) can an Interface with firewire solve the latency problem
3) what would you recommend?
4) What do you think about the Tascam FW 1082 or
Tascam FW 1884?

quattro had heaps of driver issues, it was reduced in price pretty quickly due to this..

Tascam have had problems with their products as well... what gets me is magz reviewing hardware and saying they are the bomb but they dont even perform in real world tests..

do ur research

also a guy was having no problems using a ESI QuataFire 610 with no problems.
if you can go PCI with breakout then i would go that route, it will perform slightly better than firewire...

Usb audio is a bit of a no no. It has in the past been really unstable and buggy.
Try firewire for a more solid performance. I realise money may be an issue but try talking that qautro back to the shop telling them it doesnt work- see what they say and exchange it for a firewire bussed card.

)) But seriously: Do you think a firewire pci is better than an firewire-interface? or station like fw 1884?

i do the same as you, also have a td20 and stuff

i had the O1X, was, fine, but to big for what i needed
I need a interface for 12" 1.5ghz powerbook, running ableton live, reason etc
i need to do overdub recordings (record one track over another) so i really don't want (high) latency

i looked at

edirol fa101 - good card, but a little big, good price though, and drivers inside OSX. fa66 comming out soon... both card don't have a cinch on the spdif. damn. many people told me not to buy roland for audio interfaces etc... that was a while ago, though... about the da2496 and stuff

m-audio audiophile fw - good card, though a rumour of troubles with OSX (although maybe people where going hotplugging it etc, and telling bad things about it when not even using it correct)

m-audio FW410 - better comments on OSX i think, great card for my needs, but to many outputs (ah well, better too much ), but i wouldn't mind maybe... less bang for the buck than the edirol fa101 in price though, i think... how would they compare qualitywise?

terratec phase 24 - great little thing. some good comments, some bad comments... people calling it the best kept secret

presonus firebox - out in 3 weeks, nice card in terms of specs and stuff...

emagic 6|2 - old but nice card, usb, a friend is having a bit of latency (maybe it is his computer), no support in the furute maybe...

any (other) suggestions?
i need something in the same as above written interfaces in terms of specs, etc...
