WTF is wrong with Apple???? First they lose the firewire on the Macbook aluminum, there is such a huge outcry they bring it back, now they think it's a good idea to lose it on the white macbook?? What are they smoking?

Plus you can't get a screen on the aluminum 13" that doesn't reflect like a friggin mirror?

arrrggghhhh

I love Apple's marketing - big bold letters - NEW IMAC FROM $1100 (on Canadian Apple site).

However, the only one you'd want to BUY, the 27" Quad core i5 model is $2200 (cdn).

Yes, this represents better value than some previous Imacs in the 1800-2000 dollar range of late, but that's a lot of doh-ray-me.

I didn't even notice this. I guess that's the cost of buying industry leading products like apple - they have you over a barrel.

sorry, but that new iMac looks like the gayest thing i've ever seen. i'd honestly be embarrassed to use one. they were so obsessed with the environment when they were making it, that they forgot to put life in it.
my 2k$.

Are you still mad that Apple stopped making different colored iMacs named after fruit? I heard about you.

I am a newbie , so...

I am thinking about MBPro ( 15" for live gigs seems the consensus )
In apple world, and w a budget, is MBP really my only option for upgrading to version 8 w session drums at minimum?
Is there an advantage to the big imac for live use?
Does imac lack firewire... if so, is that a deal killer?

iMac has 1 firewire 800 port

Setting up an iMac for a show would be weird. You have enough stuff to worry about, with the iMac you would have to transport it somehow (it's a big sheet of thin glass, essentially), set it up somewhere (find a place for the base, keyboard, and mouse), and feed it power. Doesn't sound that fun to me.

For a install in a home project studio, the quad iMac would be pretty nice. You could push it pretty hard.

My Macs are seeming really, really old.

I grew up near Hoboken- Blvd East and Kennedy Blvd

So you say go with the 15" Macbook Pro... yes?
Are there things under the hood, that I should be aware of... in terms of "buy this version of MBP vs this version of MBP? Or is any version ( there are wide differences in price between them ) I get, later on upgradable to a maxed out version?
Also this... what is your recommendation for compatibility issues as far as OS and version 8?
I would be putting ONLY version 8 on the new MBP... but I see things here that cause me to ask about issues.

I heard Hoboken is transformed .
Thanks

About the 27inches model, HD 4870 is only 150$ on newegg... I was hoping something a bit more strong. If the screen is IPS its a shame to put it behind a glossy glass.

Still its a nice computer. Im even more happy with my monster Dell 30inch!! got it for 800$.

you're kidding right? built in battery on a laptop is a really bad idea.
so let me get this strait...no firewire and no interchangeable battery...but I'm supposed to ignore this because "they just work"?? I think I'll stick with my "crap" pc and it's 9 cell interchangeable battery and firewire ports.
