all very cool here. Been listening two two or three tracks of the heliocentrics with mulatu astatke while downloading. Installing didn't take longer than to read one or two posts here. osx10.4.10

Thats's right but anyhow the installation process of Live never took more than 8-10 min. even if the whole library was installed... Maybe because I have a "native" DAW i.e. I don't have all the needless stuff like internet, mail, antivirus, networking etc. on-board. Just the minimum of services are running i.e. only those that are required to run Live... Just imagine antivirus will scan each single file before installation!

glad it's working for ya....
btw..
there's no reason for the antivirus to scan .wav...or live preset files...
and I don't think having a network connection should make that much of a difference ...
I don't know

Thanx for a short answer! :)

I don't know
Only a poorly antivirus doesn't scan .wav, .mp3, ... files since audio files are a favored way to mask Worms and Trojans http://www.kaspersky.com/news?id=207575664.
And a antivirus program can't know that live preset files are "from the good guys" therefore it has to scan each and everything until a custom scanning rule is created...

Concerning the networking issue... In my case disabling all the networking features allows me to disable approximately 15-20! (a lot of svchost, spoolsv, ctfmon, and, and...) cpu hungry and hard disk accessing services... As a result of getting rid of all those "non music making beneficial" services I run my pc with 8-10 services...
Open the taskmanager (if on pc) and count yours. 8O

Why are you so worried with the small instaler?

It installs Live808 without any packages added. thus means, it takes your library installed with 805 (or any previous version you installed before) for reference.

I'm simply very happy with this one

Results in a very fast instal & play with live

Here we go again guys

So for me, once again, after updating, my slpashscreen is not gray (suite), but colorfull (gay). <kidding and apologies.

Anyway, here is how I proceed :
On mac, copied the folder to application, and unmount the .DMG.
Then I trashed the 8.05 version and launched the new one, and that's it.
But after that, the splashcreen was the Live nomal version again but I normaly got the suite version. everything seems to be here though.
Did I do something wrong? Some people here got the grey spashscreen after updating their suite version ?

I know it's not big deal but still just wana know about this.

Also something else, the loading time to launch and quit Live is amazing now, it feels like launching TextEdit ! good job !

Cheers.

I have something for you (a very straight splash a.k.a. the last hetero):

BTW: I never got those splashscreen problems because I always uninstall previous versions. I also download the whole suite installer instead of the less content installer (Who cares in times of flatrates and 100MBit/s bandwidth!?!).
(Backup preferences.cfg, unlock.cfg, and your custom remote scripts before and get rid of all those old and stinky previous version folders which are left undeleted from the uninstaller... 8))

I prefer this splash screen:

I wish we could configure this like the skins.
