I confess...
I confess...
I downloaded a hacked version of Live 8 and yes...I've been stung by the anti-piracy measure that seems to have totally f***ed up my PC' soundcard.
So, I only had it coming, I accept that and humbly ask Ableton to forgive me for basically attempting to rip them off.
Now, my question. I really like Live 8, and I'd also like my soundcard to be able to record sound again without that weird warbly fade-out effect that prevents me recording sound on any/every other sound/media software on my affected PC. So....I'm ready to shell out the money, but....before I do go legit. I need to know that buying Live 8 means this warbly anti-piracy damage done to my PC will be corrected? If not....then, I have a feeling that despite my initial misdeed in downloading some cracked software, that I might have grounds to take this act of vandalism (on Ablteon's part) as a criminal bloody act!
Any help/advice on this I'd be grateful for....and I know I'm opening myself to a torrent of abuse for admitting what I did. And boy...have I learned my lesson the hard way.
That said though, if parting with four hundred pounds fixes this piece of software vandalism, plus gives me a fully functioning version of legit LIVE 8 (which, may I stress again - is a fantastic piece of software) I will be a happy man, plus know that my bad-karma for using hacked software will be restored to its former good self.
best (and desperately hoping for an answer)

Re: I confess...
where did you get this hacked version of live 8 that you think had anti piracy measures that fucked your sound card ?
Re: I confess...
Very Doubtful, its not abletons fault your soundcard is bust, its the crackers. Probably a reformat and OS reinstallation is required, i doubt a hack could physically damage a soundcard so it must be a software problem.
Re: I confess...
i've been thru this before.
turned out i had to pay a $274 fine to ableton in order to receive the healing code which unfried my soundcard

Take Ableton to court and you will be laughed out. You have no solid case for this due to the key fact that YOU STOLE THE SOFTWARE ILLEGALLY IN THE FIRST PLACE.
You would have to go into court and admit theft of a product, which will completely fuck up your side of the case. Theres no grounds for justice.

I think you're in for a clean reinstall of your system, and then get your credit card out and head over to Ableton's web shop.

but to say we only repair you card when you buy our software?
but i guess no hacker would dare to sew ableton... but is a person that trys a piece of hacked software freely downloadable in the internet allready commiting a crime? or is the crime to have the piece of hacked software on your harddisk?
i see that software companys have to fight the hackers..but with which measure? kalaschikows, napalm or vicious virus programming?..
i little glimps of our future... do something wrong and they will fry your i phone..wich is the only access to your bankacounts than
i wonder what the c.c.c has to say about such things...

Re: I confess...
I doubt Ableton would issue a Demo version available on their own website with such 'destructive' qualities; its more the cracked versions avaialbe thru warez, torrent, etc that have these measures implmented. The 14day working demo will be untouched and fine.3phase wrote:does that say the times of safe enabled demos are over?
If Ableton have really implemented this then fair doos to them, I respect them for it - about bloody time imo!! Although it could just be a fucked up cracked copy thats done it rather than Ableton.[/quote]
