So let me get this straight...you're slamming me as being gay, by saying that you wouldn't lick me, since you're gay. Right?

Also, I don't shave my eyebrows, but I do give myself a brazilian. Mmm hmm, girlfriend. Landing strip, right to the promise land.

this guy is one of the people who has really pushed the frontiers of electronic music in the last few years.

alchahofa, the au harem d'archimedes, achso, countless remixes.

I think he is well within his right to be slightly overopinioated about sound issues.

maybe in this instance of criticising ableton sound quality he is wrong (though he is not the first person whose opinion I respect to mention it). but anyways, I feel a need to point people to his music instead of this small snapshot of his life.

also i feel sad that everyone always brings up the drugs thing. people blink, no?
sure he probably likes to lose/find his mind in his own preferred way like every other being, but if he gets results, then he gets results.
if im honest the drugs thing i actualy find is the most agreeable thing about him.
after his name was mentioned in the last thread i looked him up on youtube and caught a video of him DJing, i thought it was realy refreshing to see a DJ so into & connected to what he was doing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akXkmN_s4OE

i have a lot of respect for the guy giving us an insight into what he strives for creativly and respect anyones opinion on the analogue/digital debate. afterall its all subjective.

but when hes reinforcing his ideals by using examples that are blatently untrue he actualy comes across as nothng more than an idiot, who doesnt actualy know what hes talking about. even if his fundamental point of analoge is superior to digital was to be correct.

im not saying thats how he is in real life, but hes certainly made a complete cock of him self with some of the things hes saying. and he shouldnt be doing that when hes a very well respected and accomplished DJ/producer.

its made all the worse by the the fact he owns a studio that seems to be seen as gods gift to the truely worthy audiofile, takes a stance of purity in sound. and realy should know what hes talking about and be able to express it.

as it is hes comming across as the successfull guy with loads of money, has all the gear and no idea.

i didnt see his mention of ableton as being a particularly specific attack on the software, i think hes just talking about the wider analogue VS digital debate, and has unfortunalty used some realy crappy and blatently untrue examples as an explanation of why he does what he does the way he chooses to do it. again he should have been able to convey things better, particularly if he ever wants a chance to acheve this sonic purity he craves.

i just cant take the guy's argument seriously which is kind of unfortunate, as i should be able to take someone seemingly respected and credible as he is at least seriously even if i didnt agree with his point of view.

in reply to your statement about pretentious jazz.

i.e. unpretentious jazz and connected with my statement that I think it's a shame that people focus more on interviews etc w/ a musician rather than their actual music.

why not just write some text like

<-- a Villalobos song

next to your youtube FFS. communication is a two way street.

I listened to that track, it's a waste of time. it's exactly the vapid pretentious crap I'd expect a twat like him to make. it was the same quantized loops over and over again with some really lame unmusical uninteresting bass wankery over the top. I really expected more.

why focus on an interview? because we're music geeks. we read that shit for the pictures AND the articles. I agree that it sucks when an artist's personal life taints their music, but so it goes. they need to learn to keep their mouths shut because people do let that stuff affect album sales and concert attendance.

he's talking through his ass because he has a bit of spotlight.
dont know the guy or anything, but he looks like a really uptight pretentious "if its not done like this then its wrong" type of guy.
