Using multiple instances

Post by mbncp » Fri Oct 30, 2009 3:32 pm

How do you launch a second instance of Live with different settings (audio driver, midi ports, colors,...), live 8.0.8 winxp32.

I see that on winxp, most preferences are stored in %APPDATA%\Ableton\LIVE_VERSION\Preferences
So I can launch 8.0.5 with different config from 8.0.8 as they don't share the same folder.

But I would rather have twice the same version. So is it possible to launch a second instance which would load it's config files from a different folder ?

I allready tried creating some fake 8.0.7 version (re-naming exe and folder) but that doesn't work.

Any idea ?

Thanks

Found some workaround using a batch file that deals with it automatically, but a command
line option to select the config file like reaper does wouldn't hurt.
This is also interesting to launch live with different configs.

Now is there a way to avoid the message boxes when starting a second instance of Live ??
