Hi guys,
I am trying to use the knobs on my ozone to control the controls on a vsti 303 clone - with an aim to recording the knob movements.
I can automate all the parameters on the 303 using automation in the arrange window, but I need that real-time tweakage.
When I press the midi button to assign controllers to parameters the controls on the 303 GUI are not available.
Obviously this question seems applicable to all non-Ableton vst's and vsti's.
Cheers for the help and apologies if it's in the manuel!!!
Non-Ableton VSTi/VST Automation
The only way to automate 3rd party VSTs via MIDI control is thru Live's stand-in controls in teh foldout for the VST in the insert rack.
Not very prectical for most VSTs simply because the Live foldout shows grey sliders with cryptic names for most parameters
Its almost impossible to find the one you want to control unless it is very basic and obvioius
Hoping (praying) they are going to find a solution to this for vs 5

grey
the grey sliders did the trick.
being a 303 clone it only has about 10 controls, so it was easy to find the correct paramenters.
cheers for the help man.

FL Studio has the best solution I've seen for solving this problem. Basically you move the knob in the VST's GUI. At this point FL Studio figures out which paramter it is. Then you select a menu command that allows you to bind a MIDI controller to that parameter. Works great for VSTs with tons of paramaters. No need to hunt through the list of stand in controls to find the right slider.supster wrote:The only way to automate 3rd party VSTs via MIDI control is thru Live's stand-in controls in teh foldout for the VST in the insert rack.

I hope Ableton will implement a similar solution. It's very elegant, and works great.
