Komplete 6 or 8 Suite??
What do you guys think:
Both are priced about the same right now ..about $280ish for me per upgrade offers (i just dumped a crapload of $$$ on a new laptop so money is a little tight right now)
Native Instruments Komplete 6 or Live Suite 8?
Current setup:
Live 7
Drum Machines
Session Drums
EIC 2
NI Reaktor 5
Reason 2.5
a bunch of VSTs (mostly all free ones)
Novation Remote SL25
APC 40
Dell i7 quadcore 4 gb RAM, dual monitor setup
Cheers and thanx for your input

Re: Komplete 6 or 8 Suite??
So right now you just have Reaktor5 and Absynth2 from NI? You'll get a hell of a lot of stuff for the Komplete 6 upgrade. I say do that. But I also think you should upgrade to Live 8 (non-suite perhaps?) as well, depending on how much you want the new features.
You said it was either suite 8 or K6 right?
Ideal would be Live 8 non-suite and K6. Live 8 can really change your set structure because of the new features (Plug-in configuration, group tracks etc.). That's why I say if you only care about the suite instruments or effects, go with K6.

I own both. Without any doubt: buy Komplete 6 - you get MUCH better sounds and much more for your money.

Re: Komplete 6 or 8 Suite??
Actually I don't have Absynth, which is a big pull on the Komplete choice...esp since it's now Abs 4. The hard part about 8 vs. Suite 8 is it's only a $120 diff...i'd be a fool to NOT get all the additional instruments in Suiteglitchrock-buddha wrote:So right now you just have Reaktor5 and Absynth2 from NI? And I'm trying to remember ...was there better suport in 8 for the APC?

Re: Komplete 6 or 8 Suite??
Without Absynth I would say get Komplete 6. Had you Absynth and Reactor then it would be a harder call. I use Battery, Massive, Reactor and Absynth all the time. Suite upgrade is pretty cool too, though personally boxed is the way to go. Session Drums would be very useful to me, especially since it probably is more stable in Live than BFD or Drums From Hell.
The big decision is really if you want sampled, emulated and acoustic modeled sounds (Suite), or digital wavetable and sampled/granular sounds (Komplete). IMO it's not too much overlap to own both, so where to start?
Don't forget you get Live 8 along with Suite as well, and Komplete 6 has no end date where the price goes up.

K6 goes up Dec 31 2009 for me ($299 for Reaktor 5 users minus 6% bing cashback from Sweetwater))Machinesworking wrote:Don't forget you get Live 8 along with Suite as well, and Komplete 6 has no end date where the price goes up.

Re: Komplete 6 or 8 Suite??
Get Komplete 6, buy at a place that will raincheck Live Suite at the 20% sale upgrade price.
Some dealer will do it if you're willing to ask, and they're willing to get a sale at a later date.
Also, you can sell Session Drums to make up the price a bit on Suite.
That's what I would do, haggle, only thing good about GC, is you can force the price. Honestly Komplete is more bang for the buck out the door, but I really do like acoustic modeling.

Re: Komplete 6 or 8 Suite??
I could make a great argument for either. If you like massive amounts of presets, different interfaces to get juiced from, and work with guitar then Komplete makes more sense. If you like having all sounds integrated into one interface, go with Suite. I keep Suite on my laptop for travel and have most of the Komplete instruments loaded on a backup drive for working at home.

Re: Komplete 6 or 8 Suite??
Yes! That's what i'd do. I just got Komplete 6 and i'm happy as a pig in shit. The instruments are of a higher quality than those you'll find in Live 8 Suite. IMHO, of courseJersey Garcia wrote:again, i'd say upgrade to live 8 (not the suite) and get komplete 6.
Re: Komplete 6 or 8 Suite??
Reason for is definately worth upgrading to.I have live suite as well. But for versatility komplete 6 is better in my opinion. Much wider palate
