Just a note... The mixer area still responds to midi. So when you switch to midi and press any of the global key on the right hand side (Vol, pan, etc..) it will change your sequence. I am still going through the patches. I really like this functionality. I have so many ideas for the control surface integration. Breaking things apart today. Maybe I will write some patches tomorrow. A side note is that we really need the remote script documented so that we can add controllers that do not already have them. Maybe this is documented somewhere and someone can just show me.

Great stuff!!

Similar to a previous APC post, I can't even set any prefs in the Control Surfaces dialog box for my Launchpad

@stb, got any tips for that? Is there a proper method/order once you drop in the sequencer patch?

@tone, were you able to set any of those prefs for the LP?

And just so's I'm clear, the step patch will work with any MIDI instrument, yes? And you'll get the tempo lights cruising across your surface and be able to play AND remove notes in the sequence?
I came for the

Make sure even if the APC 40 is shown in the device, you reselect it. Then you will see the rest of the boxes populate. Just another side note... Under the configure-launcpad patch it states that user1 should switch on step sequencer mode. It should say user2 will switch on the step sequencer mode. I just don't want anyone to be confused by the patch who is trying to learn from it.

The knob that says base changes the bottom note so that it moves the whole range up. Jus realize if you perform this action while recording in midi it will note write over the old notes becasue you moved the range up. If you want to get rid of the old ones then you need to turn them off before you change the base or go into the sequencer area and delete the notes you do not want. I just go to the sequencer and hit ctrl-a to select all and then delete. Then i move the base.

stb - many thanks, that worked!!

partly what I didn't get before is that you have to put a midi clip into the track, this patch drops notes into that clip. that's why the step sequencer is AFTER the instrument, that didn't make sense before.

(I opened the patch to see how it worked, nice comments on the patch.)

techn, stb thanks.

Realized that even though Launchpad is already selected as the cs, you have to still have to manually select in order to adjust anything. Great little patch. Put in some Tension with a nice mangling bit of CamelSpace and away we go.

This device rules. I've been messing with my APC40 as a sequencer all night. I may have to incorporate this in my live show.

It seems to die on me after some time.. Live just starts giving me the beach-ball..
Could be that I abuse it too much? messing around with the tempo 0-999 and all that? Just stops outputting sound after a while then I get th' beachball..

Using the latest beta (81b8?)

Promising patch though! I wish the bank select cursors were available, so I could navigate from the APC40 like always. Will take me some time to dissassemble the build though..

Thanks, that worked, but I don't have max4live lessons even though I installed max4live. In fact I can't seem to find anything to do with m4l in ableton despite installing it
