Although I'm a big fan of the classics there is some stuff that has come out in the past few years that I really like.

Here's a good one:

they said the identical thing back then, the older crowd of then. for me, lots of new stuff sounds original, so did lot for you, back then. some is, some isn't.

Too people are desperate to give everything a genre these days, which totally misses the point. My idea of 'House' is dance tunes with straight 4/4 beats no faster than 130bpm, but everybody have to prove they are somehow different and add some pointless variant to the "House" thing.

In all the years I've been making music, I've never tried to label any of it, because it's pointless, I want people to remember ME, not the fucking genre!

I am just tired of all the cloning that has been going on for years now.

sometimes the old stuff sounds cheesy. I need it to have some serious funk, jazz, or soul up in there for me to really get down

theirs pleanty of good music about but 99% of it just seems to lack honesty, personality, and a big fat finger to the man.

+1.

You know, I've been thinking about this a lot lately. The old ones among us, me included. Romanticize about the days when we had to physically leave our house, drive to the record store, and dig into record crates. Dig, dig and find those gems. Today is not that different. Instead, we don't have to leave, but we have a daunting task to find "quality" music. Now, there is 10 times the amount of music. Our jobs are even harder to find the "cream" of the crop. Nothing has changed, but everything has.

You old Codgers that look backwards have to evolve or "get Out The Way!".
