Mapping samples to AKAI MPD24 pads with Ableton Live lite 7

Post by Ziffis » Mon Nov 09, 2009 10:43 am

Hi,

I have an issue with no solution yet found: How can I map samples to MPD24 pads when using Ableton Live lite (provided with Line6 UX2)? For instance map kick to PAD 1, snare to PAD2 etc ? MIDI mapping itself to map controls to parameters works so no such problems in my setup. Also mapping a pad to trigger loops in session view works well.

As comparison my son is using FL 8 and there is some FPC window where you just drag any sample to any pad. Easy and works well.

you're looking for the instrument called "drum rack".

not sure if lite for Line 6 comes with drum rack, but that's what you're describing.

Hi,

this is probably about me being a newbie, but I don't find a way to map any sample in my file browser to my AKAI MPD24 pads by using drum rack... :(
The PAD's play the sounds being by default in drum rack, but they can't be changed at all. From AKAI I have chosen the preset Live.

you should be able to just drag a sample onto one of the pads in drum rack.

is that what you're asking?

Read the first few pages of the 'Midi & Remote Control' section of the Live manual (page 453) and you should be in business.

^^ I think Live Lite only allows you to use presets, and not to make your own.

You probably have to upgrade to the full version to that, but I could be wrong..

Apologies, I missed that you were referring to the Live lite. As already mentioned, I'm not sure if auto mapping features are available with lite.
