i'm getting some crashes.
running 8.0.9
personus audiobox two channel interface
launchpad
macbook 10.6.1 4GB ram, 2ghz core 2 duo
my live rig.
here's what's happening. when i have a set open if i try to open another set from there in the "most recent sets" thing in the menu bar, it will crash, especially if either of the sets is a busier one.
if i close the set with command w, then i can open another one fine. [maybe i just need to use this procedure and forge ahead.]
each of my sets has about 5,6,7 tracks and five or six clips in each one.
there's only three or four FX being used. typically only on one or two things.
i have two tracks typically of live audio making loops as i go.
44.1 16 bit
here's my questions:
I "think" the computer has enough horsepower?
no files on desktop, nothing else running when ableton is on, airport turned off.
{should i be running the launchpad edition of the software with launch pad? i don't think the pad is causing the ish because i can make it crash without it being plugged in. but wondered if that is just version that comes with LP to get you going or if you need to run that version to have the LP in use? this is kind of a sidebar, forgive me.}
i never noticed this before in earlier versions and it seemed the height of stability however my sets are getting a little bigger i guess. though still not that large.
i use this rig in front of quite a few folks [to me anyways] at the gigs and the crash thing has to go!
i've wondered about increasing the buffer size? the tracks are frozen.
is the drive too slow?
is it better to have all the sets in one big set? is that easier resource wise or is switching them out okay. it does take me 15 seconds or so to close one and open one….[which can seem kinda long in front of people, but i have a workaround so it's not a huge deal.] which is easier resource wise?
or is the deal, you need to close out the set and let everything reset so to speak?
perhaps there is a third party FX i need to look at i was using the glue compressor on some stuff, perhaps the AU stuff is easier resource wise? or the stuff that came with ableton? look at that kind of stuff?
i don't mind stuff being a little slow or whatever at home but on the gig i really need stability.
thank you in advance. forgive me for not giving enough information or for asking something that has already been covered.
