having trouble warping.

Post by azzy » Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:37 pm

Hi, im having trouble warping tracks. i began warping tracks with Techno on ableton 7 a little while ago, which was really easy and you could spot the beats easily, i would warp the whole track manually making sure everything was where it was meant to be.

Moving onto more complex songs ( ie, their not techno) and using Ableton 8, i cant do this. I only used 7 a few times , and moving onto 8 that quickly caused confusion.
I know their are a ton of videos out their telling you how to warp tracks on ableton 8, but they all assume you know how to warp from previous versions ( ive forgotton how to warp in ableton 7, since moving to 8 ) So watching these videos is quite frustrating, as i feel like im missing something obvious.

Anyway at this point i am quite frustated, i cant warp A capellas or normal tracks fully, it never seems to work and i dont usually have the best idea on what to do, and i cant find information detailing how to warp tracks from step one using ableton live 8.

:? its really confusing , cant find the exact information im looking for, it seems everyone has their own abstract take on how to do this stuff but so many different opinions just add to the confusion for me.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial that takes me through this from step one?
Thanks.

i learned how to warp by reading the manual. and a lot of time experimenting.

switching from 7 to 8 was interesting to say the least, but now that i have a grip on it i wouldn't switch back.

all i can say is holding the shift key sometimes helps.
