cant drag n drop from windows 7 explorer

I've tried dragging several 16bit/24bit wave files from Windows 7 Explorer but Ableton 8.0.9 won't let me drop them inside an audio channel.

Shouldn't this work?

I'm in Win7 x64 and I was able to get Wav files to drag and drop into Live. So it should work.

Just out of curiosity what happens when you navigate to the folder inside Live and drag and drop from there?

Yes, I can drag them in from the live browser.

What version of live are you using jdrews?

*scratches head* not sure why it wouldn't work for you but it works for me... really odd...

Hi guys, the problems arises If you have transferred the file form another computer or a removable drive, sometimes (although no always) W7 "locks" the file in isolation and I am positive that this is what prevents Ableton, and incidentally Cubase 5 also, from seeing and recognising the file correctly.

The solution is you have to right click in properties and unlock the file.............

I've found the reason....

It's because windows explorer does not run in administrator mode and I have to run Ableton in administrator mode.
I have to do this so the ARC vst plugin will work (it won't work otherwise!!).

This meant that I have had to turn off Windows 7 UAC off. Which in turn has forced me to delete my preference.cfg because Ableton stopped launching!
