IMAGINE IF LIVE COULD FIRE VIDEO CLIPS FROM SESSION VIEW
Re: IMAGINE IF LIVE COULD FIRE VIDEO CLIPS FROM SESSION VIEW
Hey guys,
Same questions. I hope to use Live for VJ stuff instead of 2 apps.
Do we have to get Jitter to on top of MaxforLive?
Great job guys.
I'll share some Live work with a jazz trio of friends:

Re: IMAGINE IF LIVE COULD FIRE VIDEO CLIPS FROM SESSION VIEW
agreed on your point, that would be good and proper. I'm just not into video so a half assed workaround is OK for the little I've pursued it. I'm an audio guy.mrsakitumi wrote:My point was that it still lands up being a work around:
i.e. you need to place markers, midi map, send via midi yoke or IAC.
there are people that feel the way you do. then there's the people like me that hope Live doesn't get bloated with video stuff I'd never use.
then there's jitter with max4Live.

Thanks for your constructive points Tone.
I think my wish is similar to the "automation for session view guys"
If the feature is already available in arrange view, wouldn't it be cool to have it in session view too.
It wouldn't be something new, just an extension of what is already there in Live.

Re: IMAGINE IF LIVE COULD FIRE VIDEO CLIPS FROM SESSION VIEW
I didn't read this whole thread, but the idea of firing AV clips from session view really gets me going! That would be awesome! The Abes have said in the past they are not interested in fully developing Live's video capabilities because then people would want more and more features and Live is not meant to be a VJ app. I think this idea would be a great M4L project, and I would definitely pay for a VJ app that resides in Ableton.
Free frame plugin (v1) support is a must!

That would be pretty slick to be able to fire video clips from the session view. I can see why it would bring along a whole range of new feature creep and resource demands though.

I'd rather have VJ capabilities in Live 9 than Scoring: "Oh wow, did I really play those notes...!!!???!!"

Re: IMAGINE IF LIVE COULD FIRE VIDEO CLIPS FROM SESSION VIEW
I did a fairly tightly edited video using Ableton, and was also frustrated by the fact that you couldn't see the video clips in front of you as you triggered them in session. You cantrigger them quickly in session just like music clips, but not being able to view them in real-time is what holds you back, for sure. (I'm assuming this would cause major problems with processing power?---otherwise what's the problem?--i.e.--since the arrangement view is essentially still rendering all of your tightly edited 16th note long video clips in real-time as it plays through the arrangement, how much more would it really entail to do this as you jammed away in the session view?)
