No need for unprocessed take with DNA! As long as it identifies the notes you canmvoe them around with in the polyphonic material. Nice.

Great video and great technology. Melodyne is going to force antares out of business or force them to make an amazing product themselves. Either way, we win.

A question for those that have used Melodyne DNA: have you tried it on non-melodic material yet?
The reason I ask is I use field recordings and found sounds. Say I record the noise of a busy train station, I'm wondering if DNA will enable me to isolate specific sounds within that recording?

Difficult to do. I believe one of the mags has done a full review this month and they tested all sorts of different types of material.
The GNR clip is a good example of where it will work bnecasue it can easily identify the notes being played by the guitar as being separate from the rest of the track. Therefore you canj then simply move those notes around within the DNA window, leaving the rest untouched.
For mroe complex material DNA sometimes ain't so good.
I think that was the basis of his review.

Ahh, cheers UKR. I think its SOS that has the full review - sure I've seen the cover in WH Smiths. Will check it out.
Hopefully there is a demo available so I can try it out.

it might work although its not designed to do this. Sonicworx can £1500 price tag mac only and not quite ready for release though. Iam ready to buy thatLeon Tricker wrote:A question for those that have used Melodyne DNA: have you tried it on non-melodic material yet?

yeah, sonic worx looks impressive
Melodyne needs a license to drive it.... haven't got any decent results yet because I haven't had the time to go through the hair pulling out phase
I didn't have a lot of fun really, not like I thought I would
