That's the last goddamn Max patch I'm fucking with until M4L. Even then, I don't see this getting any more sensible when M4L is released and we start getting complex patches for that platform. It's going to be the same. A patch that will do amazing buffer shit to a sample, that 1 out of every 20 people can actually get running, and will generate 30 pages of posts from people asking "How do I work this thing." lol.

^I will never understand the Max world. A patch like this, that's a tad more complex than a ring modulator
needs some decent fucking step-by-step docs. The creators of Max step sequencers and/or sample manglers can never be arsed to do this.... WTF. It's horrid. What you then get is 40+ of shite over at the monome forum from people who can't figure it out or something's buggy or whatever.

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
Hi everybody
at the last weekend i spent my time getting setup with molar and my APC-40.
After reading some very needful posts here in this forum i finaly brought molar to start.
By the way many thanks for the nice work here in this topic.
But now i have some problems with my other controllers.
After starting my APC-40 in monomulator-mode most of the other midi-inputs are signed red in Live-Midi setup so they can not be used.
For me the price for running the monomulator-mode is too high renouncing of all the other midi-inputs.
The perfect solution for me would be using the APC in monomulator-mode and using the other midi-inputs like before.
I am running Win XP SP3 with Live 7.018 and my other controllers are : NI Machine,NI Kore,Kenton Killamix and of course a Midikeyboard.
Hopefully someone can me help with this problem.

Can anybody with XP SP3 got this thing to work? It doesn't say you need something like MIDI YOKE or anything. I guess for windows users you do need this?
This thing is more like a headache emulator. I've got a launchpad have been able to get that emulator (nonome) working, but I first started on this and cant
get it to work correctly. I even followed the youtube video and set up. It seems to not light up the grid. I can get the grid to flash for a second in the three colors but that's it. It doesn't work correctly. Go into keyboard mode and it just turns off the colors instead of keeping them on.

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
@ g-force
ok i try explaining the way my setup works :
first of all for win xp you need midi-yoke.
1 start max runtime or max5
2 open the monomulator-file
3 set up the monomulator : apc-40 usb ports midi in and midi out
midi yoke channel 1 automap apc to live
midi yoke channel 2 automap apc from live
midi yoke channel 3 notes midi port
midi yoke channel 4 slider midi port
4 start live
midi setup apc midi yoke channel 1 input
channel 2 output
5 midiports only switch on:
input apc from midi yoke1 remote on
midi yoke3 track on
midi yoke4 remote on
6 after that press on apc shift+send a for example molar
shift+send b for midi controlling in rows
shift+send c for the keyboard
shift+pan back to apc-mode
7 enjoy and have fun .
for me this setup works fine and very stable.
by the way i like molar so much so for me was this the reason to get in touch with the monomulator-mode.
cheers.

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
Kewl! I'll try this after work---I think right off the bat what threw me off, is that the ports list "USB DEVICE" instead of "APC40" in the input/outputs.Fensch wrote:@ g-force

@ g-force
when you open the monomulator-file in max you can check the connection between apc and the monomulator by clicking on of the three colours.
is the apc showing up the colours this is the right midi port to use.

got it! thanks Fensch. It was the proper setting of Midi Yoke channels and apc/yoke inputs and outputs in Live that threw me --thanks!Fensch wrote:@ g-force

Re: Monome Emulator for APC40- BIG UPDATE! - More Fun!
I tried looking through the past 12 pages of this thread but could not find the answer to a question (if I missed it please let me know)
I have set up the APC and Monomulator per the instructions. My issue is that when I press the shift button it is playing several midi notes. I took Molar out of my MIDI track and replaced it with Analog just for test sakes. When I click the shift button several notes are played, when I go to the shift/return C screen and play some notes on the various colored pads I am getting octaves of each note rather than a single note.
Has anyone had this problem and/or know what the fix is?
Thank you for the help.

Monomulator now seems to be working the way it is supposed to. Molar is a different story. I read the manual, watched the video. There are still no step by steps out there, not any trouble shooting tips. Can anyone take the time to walk us through this? Please?
Should we just be able to drag the VST or AU into the midi track, click shift+Send A and vuala it magically works?

No. No one is going to help you. You're going to have to sift through 200+ fucking pages at monome.org, then spend hours piecing the scattered bits of data into some coherent story/instruction set.
Then, after all that, Rewire is going to fuck you anyway.
Best wait for M4L.
