cd quality

Probably a dumb question but how good is the quality of the music you rip from cd's to wav. Compared to wav files you can buy in digital download stores (like bleep, beatport).

Thanks.

Audio CDs tend to have many duplication errors. The built in error correction mechanisms can deal with most of these errors but you still get a certain number of undetected or uncorrectable errors. So, arguably, a download would be superior.

CD to wav there is no loss aside from what crumhorn said. both store PCM (look that up on wikipedia) data.
