Alexsy recently put the price up a bit on this baby to $129 (probably as all the Mac heads are now going crazy for this once exclusively PC plugin), but I can assure you, it is worth paying more than double.

This baby gives you the full range of almost transparent, light touch mastering to rip your head off with a rusty chainsaw and everything in between, several algorithms, up to 8x oversampling, and also has a reasonable DC offset filter and Dithering in Gaussian or TPDF flat or noise shaping. I have 2 more expensive limiters than this but they are rarely used, this baby is not only a jack of all trades, it does it with excellence. Forget about Waves, Sonnox, UAD, (even my beloved Sonalksis). Get this for mix finalizing and YOU'RE COVERED - from quick demos to full on pro mastering. I kid you not.

Leeds, my good man, any tips on the different modes on the Elephant? I never upgraded mine from version 2 (Licensed owner) and the mode I use is mostly AIGC 3. I'm not really happy with how much volume I get out of my mixes, when home mastering, before I get distorted sub bass buzzes. I also use Vintage Warmer 2. Any tips at all on using this plug would be appreciated.

If it's distorting on sub bass, try increasing the trans time, and release settings. Alternatively, use the Clipping mode in Elephant 3.

been messing with the demo of reaktor, downloaded a bunch of stuff from their user library (top 100)

can't say i'm in love yet. Spend a lot oftime just trying to figure out what the creation DOES, can't tell if i'm loading an instrument or an effect etc. Not that there shouldn't be a learning curve and all...

ozone is a good thought, i don't have anything like that, but it's dangerous for me to "master" something. I feel maybe the Vintage warmer would get me the "most", use it on lots of channels and the final mix right?

i did some A/B of the elephant and the live limiter, and my ears are ready to discern the difference. Not even really sure what to listen for, although the same is true a bit with the vintage "warmer".

I've also the thought about garrison personal orchestra... on a different train of thought: Should i get kontact if i'm mainly looking for the library of sounds? or should i buy actual instrument libraries i can just load into sampler one at a time as I need them?

I think i was happier when i didn't have 150 dollars Thank you for all the interesting thoughts and by all means continue, this is all interesting reading.

This gets me something now and something for christmas and Komplete in general for 400 bucks. I need full Guitar Rig anyway, plus what my heart is set on is Kontakt.

I'm expecting some extra cash from christmas so hopefully i can scare up 300 bones by dec 31st. But i think i might buy the audio midi no brainer stuff too. I'm like donald trump over here!
