Re: UK LAPTOP BATTLE
I played out first time with the ol' LP last week and really enjoyed it.
Just imnterested what other are doing with it, talk us through your set up a bnit and what you use to craft your set, what kind of clips are you8 triggering, what are you usintg user 1 for, user 2 etc.

I look forward to comparing notes at the next Hidden Away night, if I can get on the billUKRuss wrote:I played out first time with the ol' LP last week and really enjoyed it.

Personally, I am building an all audio clip set. This is because I am collaborating with a couple of different people at the moment, and rendering VSTi parts to audio makes it easier to share sets.
The positive knock on effect is that this way of working is forcing me to commit to a sound, and not be tempted to keep tweaking!
When performing the set, I am just triggering clips and playing with the send levels. Each send has an effect rack, and I've got some dummy clips set up on the send channels that can add some variation with automation of various FX parameters. Some of the audio clips have volume/pan/send automation drawn in too.
I've not done anything fancy with either User mode yet. 'User 1' I am using for playing my soft synth (yep, just the one: Synplant... oh, and I use Simpler a lot!) Oh yeah, and I have a couple of the User 2 pads mapped to 'MIDI overdub' and 'global quantize.' Nothing too exciting.
To be honest, I'm just wrapped up in launching clips. The Launchpad has got me focussing back on triggering/combining/cutting sounds and building up a 'live' arrangement - the essence of Live, I guess.
Re: UK LAPTOP BATTLE
Nice. I mentioned your interest to Dave, he said he thought you might have dropped him an e-mail already?
I did the same really with the audio clips this time, FX mapped to user 2, kept it simple.
Next time I shall be doing some live drums from user 1, with the attending lightshow, more FX on user 2, sends, track on/off cuts, that kind of thing and some live synth looping from the ol' Korg XL
...assuming i can fit it all in the rucksack.

um there is just the pics i linked to above - ive got a quickclip on my myspace
www.myspace.com/arctic-sunrise
as for what i used
Lots and lots of audio clips, with basslines rendered down with diff sounds shapes and also lfo speeds. user 1 mapped to the finger midi that was then routed and assigned over the master channel, user 2 mapped to other fx turning them on and off
