Routing midi to Micro Krog
Hi,
I'm very new to Ableton and I've run into a problem...I need to send midi sync information from my projectmix i/o midi out to my Micro Korg to sync arp tempo's and the like. I've tried doing this but every time I start or stop it just returns a continuous tone from the korg into my audio in. Also, the start and stop buttons on my APC 40 generate tones when pressed. Anyone know how to correct this?

Wow douche. That was really helpful. Like most of the brilliant questions asked here couldn't be answered by reading the manual, which I did. The results being what I posted here, and why I came to this forum for help in the first place. If you don't know the answer to the question, which you obviously don't, and if you don't have any constructive information to give, move on to the next post moron.
Re: Routing midi to Micro Krog
On the Korg, go to 'midi' on knob 1 then 'clock' on knob 2 then 'auto' on knob 3.
In Live, midi prefs select the midi output port that the Korg is connected to and make sure 'sync' is on.
Now Live will send Midi clock info to the Korg and the Korg will receive as a slave. In 'auto' mode the Korg will run to Lives midi clock but use it's internal when it isn't receiving midi info from Live, if you don't want that select 'Ext in' instead of 'auto'.
Also, when you press the apc buttons and get the tones, what is generating the tones? The Korg or something else?
If it's the korg, change the Korg's midi channel to receive midi on a different channel than the APC is sending on.

Re: Routing midi to Micro Krog
Thanks for that bit of information!!! I was trying to figure out how to sync the Korg as well!

slightly OT but you have a projectmix I/O? I had one of those for about 2 weeks and it *really* didn't like Live, how's yours shaping up? It was a nice bit of kit when I ran it with Cubase
Some stuff, and some other stuff. Honest.

My main DAW is Logic Pro and interfacing with that through the Projectmix I/O has been excellent. I have only just started using Live, and I have an APC 40 for that which is MUCH more functional in Live.Ed J wrote:stereosympathy wrote:Hi,

Re: Routing midi to Micro Krog
Thanks for the reply, I have the Korg set to EXT for the midi clock. I will try the auto setting but EXT works great in Logic. The APC is generating tones from the Micro Korg when I press the stop, play and record buttons. I will try setting the korg to a different midi channel to see if that has any effect, but as it stands, when I enable sync for the midi port on my projectmix there is no time signal being sent to the korg, it's like it's waiting for a signal but not getting one.UKRuss wrote:On the Korg, go to 'midi' on knob 1 then 'clock' on knob 2 then 'auto' on knob 3.

Re: Routing midi to Micro Krog
Fair enough, was just wondering. when I had one it didn't really do what it was meant to, and had lots of audio dropouts, which was awful, so I took it back. the motorised faders felt lovely though.stereosympathy wrote:My main DAW is Logic Pro and interfacing with that through the Projectmix I/O has been excellent. Hmmmm, never had any audio drop out issues with Live so far. And the motorized faders are really nice, along with the tap to select track faders in logic. Very functional.Ed J wrote:

Could be a Projectmix thing, does it have set up options too?

Re: Routing midi to Micro Krog
I thought that at first too, my only indication that it's not is that this setup works perfectly in logic. It doesn't sound too hard to get it working, just send the time code from live on the projectmix channel into the korg, not sure why it doesn't work.UKRuss wrote:Could be a Projectmix thing, does it have set up options too?
