microtonal piano roll. who wants?

i think having the ability to toggle between different tuning modes and microtonal divisions directly from a tab on the pianoroll would be great.

any thoughts?

i would definitely be interested in some sort of microtonal features but i would like to see how ableton chooses to implement this. currently i am using a vst from toybear's midibag to use alternate scales.

i would like to see it implemented through being able to alter the actual grid of the piano roll. somehow being visually represented by different grids. more fractions in the usual one, etc..

so each line on the grid would represent an adjustable frequency?

i like that idea, if it is in fact what you mean, as long as there would be a way for me to import common tuning file formats such as scala.

Well the tuning is managed by the instrument itself. The midi clip just says : play a C ! Nopw if you use equal temepered pythagorian, or arabian tuning, the frequency of the C will be different but the frequency is not contained in the midi information. For instance, if you try the native instruments Kontakt player, with the free sample, you have an oud instruments which plays in arabic tuning... (I think that's arabic tuning ?)

Anyway midi would only *really* work with tuning systems which divise the octave in 12 notes.
