problem with ableton

Post by monte » Wed Dec 02, 2009 5:16 pm

hi have ableton live and i have problem. first, I have about 1 sec delay on my midicontroller, when i hit the midi, the sound will come sec later, and same is with samples and stuff. When I lets say do the drums and stuff with ableton and hitt play, the sound and picture dont match, the sound follows around 0,5 sec later.it was all fine at first, it started out of the blue. I have a laptop, dual core, integreated soundcard, plenty of memory. would be thankful for any thoughts. THANKS.

I had a laptop w/ a dual core + 2 gigs of memory and I had bad latency as well. I now use a firewire interface and don't have audio or MIDI latency at all anymore.

What kind of hardware are you using? What's the controller? The interface? USB or Firewire? Are you even using an interface? I feel like this may be a hardware issue, but I don't know your computer specs. What OS? RAM? Processor speed?

The more info you can provide, the easier it'll be to identify the issue!

Try updating your M-Audio drivers and see if that helps at all.

If your Realtek card dosen't have an ASIO driver I would immediately go and download the ASIO4ALL driver on-line and use it instead. ASIO4ALL is 100% free and should immediately clear up latency issues to a great extent. It is what I use when I am on the road and don't have access to my external sound card. With a deep compassion for you and how much frustration can be caused over dealing with latency,
