Dissapointed with max 4 live

Hi,
I've been a user of both MAX and Live for over three years. I love both of them!
I recently sunk a fair deal of cash into Live 8, an APC40 and max4Live. This was all because I wanted to configure the APC to behave the way I wanted it to with live. After all, there's a lot of talk on the ableton product pages for the APC and M4L that make it seem like this is possible.

And while I can see that it IS possible, there's little to no documentation on how to do this. There should really be some sort of wrapper included to make this more simple. Something like turning the metronome button into a temporary on switch instead of a toggle should be much easier. There should be an easy way for me to remap the bank select keys to move up and down 5 spaces without pressing the select button. I've looked all over the place and cannibalized the step sequencer patch and feel completely thwarted!!!

ABLETON- Please make an editable APC ACTUALLY possible. Geez, i've taught two max/msp courses and still can't wrap my head around how to do this.

i have been trying to get a step sequencer for my apc40 also if you find a way let me know. cheers
