tree view for each track.

it would be very cool to see chains as trees. any semi experienced 3ds max user knows what i'm talking about.

PLEASE read the first post before posting ... many of the request are already in

also getting hard to understand this one (my English are weak)
outershpongolia wrote:^ Now that I think of it, this is all because of the fact that it's difficult to delete a clip with Live. Undo isn't working because If i'm recording a loop while I mess with a filter, when I hit undo cause the loop sucked, I would be undoing the filter THEN the loop..

and I think it's a little much to use a translator to translate a MIDI function into the delete key.. and I'd still need the select on launch to be selecting my clips before a delete..

Has anyone found a nice way to delete clips? Maybe you can add this to the list if it's a legit request?

I've already posted twice in this thread, but here's a summary/update on my christmas wishes :D

1. LFO device. I can live without the ones below, but an LFO device for both Live devices and external plugins' parameters would truly be heaven!
2. "Track colour = clip colour" for all new clips on that track.
3. Being able to write text on warp markers, so that syllables or specific parts of sounds are easier to find
4. Being able to choose which devices should appear in Live's browser. I can count more than 10 Live effects that I never use.
5. Improved session view automation. The 50% up/down thing in session view is annoying and time consuming.
6. I miss global groove. I now have to assign the groove I want to every new created clip.
7. I also miss the old way of quantizing with the pop-up dialogue.
8. Something similar to Fruity formula controller, or its features would be cool
9. Icons to have on the tracks. This in addition to the colouring would visualise the track's content much better.
10. Undo history list

Although this is a lot of wishes, I'm currently extremely happy with the application the way it is. I've used Live nearly 3 years now, and I love how I feel limitless when using it.

Right. Lots of interesting new proposals. But here's one that I think would be an enormous help for anybody composing in the arrangement view.

Why is it, that you can go from session view to arrangement view with no trouble what so ever (via recording you midi moves), but not the other way around?

Say you have composed a track in the arrangement view, and now you want to play it live, with the exact arrangement you just spend hours building up in arrangement view. Would it not be great, if you could just hit a button and Live would re-arrange the hole track into scenes in session view? If you worry about how Live would cut up and translate you insane ideas, think of the midi slice function and how it handles wav files. You could have the same choices and possibilities in the "Slice to Scenes" functionality.

Man, that would be great!

Also, when recording from session to arrangement, it would be helpful for me if there were made locators in arrangement when a new scene is launched

Definitely a good idea. This would make drum tracking a hell of a lot easier for my group. I usually record session view into arrangement for the entire arrangement except for drums. Then we record drums while I cue my drummer in on the scene changes and stuff like that. So this would give him a better idea of what's coming up next in the recording..

Awesome work IP - great list!

After using 8.1 and 8.1.1b1 I can only request:
8. More CPU friendly in general (requested by solconnection)
I'd love to see Live 9 being ultra-fast and snappy and stable under load, never causing drop-outs... I don't want to worry about these things while playing live...

Direct midi selection of crossfader assign, rather than switching through A/B/Off.

Allow multiple midi commands to be assigned to the same on-screen element.

i think that i'll be first one with my wish..

I wanna ta Change text size in Browser. Some kind of Settings like: Chose text size - small, mid, large.

It's very good for people (like me) who have "broken" eyes.

1. Better automation in envelopes. I'll present an example to show you the problem. Right now if I wanted to edit the dry/wet knob for a vst reverb on an instrument, I'd open up the envelope for it on a clip and see that it's marked at 100%. But that does not mean 100% wet, that means the full value of whatever you currently have the knob set to, which might be something more along the lines of 20% (in the actual vst reverb itself). This becomes a problem because it's not only confusing, but it does not allow us to turn the reverb UP in an envelope clip, only DOWN. Currently the solution is to set your dry/wet knob to 100% and then edit every clip you have to the proper percentage. This is a waste of time. Instead, ALL CLIP ENVELOPES SHOULD ASSUME 100% AS THE MAX FOR ALL PARAMETERS!

2. CHOOSABLE ANCHOR POINTS FOR ALL MIDI AND AUDIO CLIPS! Pro Tools, Logic, they ALL have this! This is so you can line up reversed samples against other instruments without having to zoom into sample level! What a waste of time!

3. MIXING MODE FOR SESSION VIEW! Yes, we all LOVE live for its genius session view. But after you're DONE writing a song and move onto mixing ableton suddenly becomes a burden and not a blessing. Live should have a switchable session mixing view where all of your clips become your plugins, like in Pro Tools, Logic, or any other major daw! When I'm mixing I need to see all plugins in a single glance, and I DON'T need to see my clips at ALL! This would solve both problems! This CAN'T BE that hard to implement, its so simple yet it would revolutionize Live!

4. Assignable hot keys, like Logic has (for keyboard shortcuts, not for midi stuff!)

5. Dedicated or assignable hot key to choose timeline position. In Pro Tools all you have to do is hit * followed by a number to go to that position on the timeline. Right now you have to click the damn thing to select a number, I want my hands off the mouse as much as possible!

better stability

the most important thing on this thread.

I also think we should be given that for free.

I like live alot but , i paid $850 - for a program that overloads on cpu level on minimal sessions.

and my comp is way over specs to handle live.

Absolutely +1 the stability/performance request, though my machine is a little antiquated.

I've been thinking about this clip automation aspect some more lately as I've been working, and I think the following are the keys for me:

1) Scaling/Stretching of automation: it would be great to have tools that could stretch (like Stretch Notes in MIDI clips now) as well as scale, which I envision as the same sort of functionality but in the vertical dimension.

2) Dropdowns for standard curves (especially if there's no Bezier adjustment).

3) Clean function for drawn automation to make it easier to manipulate.
