Serious Request

Post by supster » Tue Mar 08, 2005 12:25 am

I have a request that is somewhat related to the thread "Crash crash crash!!" in this forum right now

Ableton, in future versions of Live:

Could you possibly gives us more error messages than "A serious program error has occurred ... "

Using one cryptic error message for anything that can possibly go wrong with the program makes things just a tad difficult to troubleshoot :)

Would make our lives and your job that much easier

Thanks ;)

Hi supster,

sorry but this is simply not so possible. This error message does not appear for some kind of error we know or we can describe. If that would be the case we had a right error message or better we would avoid/fix that error.

So in the end this message is related to a crash because after such an error error the computer system is mostly in an invalid state. Unfortunately the error can be anything we do not expect. So if we would not have this message the program would crash in most cases or behave strange.

So what we should do is do fix these crashes and what you should do is to provide with a much data to reproduce crashes as possible.

regards,
Alex
