10.6 and 8.1
10.6 and 8.1
Searched here and found relatively few complaints about Snow Leopard. Is it still too early? The reviews on the Apple site scare me. Deciding between 10.5.8 and 10.6.

Live is running rock solid even since 10.6.0, never had any problems and i would never go back to 10.5 with that pesky speed stepping issues.
Cheers

Re: 10.6 and 8.1
I had a lot of speed stepping issues like crackling in the sound once the cpu goes up due to plugin usage. There is a huge advantage on 10.6 and i don´t have to use coolbook anymore. Was about time apple fixed this on the portables.beats me wrote:And has anybody had 8 run better on 10.6 than it did on 10.5?

Did you run a 10.5 version prior to 10.5.7 ??I had a lot of speed stepping issues like crackling in the sound once the cpu goes up due to plugin usage. There is a huge advantage on 10.6 and i don´t have to use coolbook anymore. Was about time apple fixed this on the portables.
because in fact, apple fixed the speed stepping in 10.5.7....
i was also running coolbook before 10.5.7, now i don't need it anymore..so for the moment i'm sticking with 10.5

Re: 10.6 and 8.1
I tried running without Coolbook for awhile on 10.5.7 and ended up reinstalling it on 10.5.8 as the performance difference in Live with and without was considerable, at least on my system (MBP 3.1).commuter wrote:Did you run a 10.5 version prior to 10.5.7 ??

Running 10.6.2 here with Live 8.0.9, both running stable (no Coolbook). Will upgrade to Live 8.1.1 when it is out of beta.

Re: 10.6 and 8.1
I had no problems with Live 8.0.x + Komplete 5 on Leopard; similarly, no problems with 8.1 + Komplete 5 on Snow Leopard. I can't actually tell the difference as far as Live goes.

I haven't had any problems with Live that were due to upgrading to Snow Leopard.
