Avid aquires Ableton Live??
Re: Avid aquires Ableton Live
I'm sure customer support will only get BETTER if Ableton is acquired by a massive media company, right??

Ask Cakewalk users how that's working out with Sonar.

Sorry if thoughts of ulterior motives seem the reason for my posting.
My wording for the thread was missing a question mark, my initial reaction to this information was well,
to say the least.
I figured since I just joined the forum Id make a post about it.
Everyone Ive spoken to about this has been totally shocked and obviously since there's no information on the web, and I have no one else to discuss it with, I thought Id start a thread to see if anyone else has any word about the subject.
As it happens, some of you have posted a few things that atleast make it possible why the person I spoke to had this view.
Sorry again for the confusion, Im going to change the subject.
Peaceout

Do you know how long ago this was?leedsquietman wrote:For a while M-Audio (part of Digidesign/Avid), distributed Ableton in North America until Ableton opened their NY office.
I seem to remember Ableton publicising they opened an office in NYC, must have been ages ago...

I didnt, although it may have seemed that way, evernaut wrote:Then why title your post as if it were true?Skylark wrote:
I have seen no proof as of yet.
I kinda started the thread without analysing every detail, I was pretty busy at the time, hence the very short post from myself.
I usually write bucket loads in my post's.

Re: Avid aquires Ableton Live??
That's my whole point. If there was any validity to it, you would be able to post a link. If you can't find a link anywhere, then why start a thread about it?Skylark wrote:I dont think such a link exist, I spoke to the person over the phone.

Re: Avid aquires Ableton Live??
Avid bought M-Audio a while a go. My guess is the music store dork was thinking of that and was confused.

Large companies usually mean cost cuttings everywhere possible - marketting tick lists instead of useful features etc etc. Ie it ceases to be premier musical application and instead becomes a minor product on some large companies inventory that the shareholders couldnt give a shit about, so we all have to move over to whatever is the nearest upcoming application managed by a small company that still vaguely gives a damn...
