Windows 7 bootcamp with Ableton 8 problems!!!

Post by edsteroonee » Wed Dec 09, 2009 6:07 am

Hey guys,

Right, so I recently moved overseas and left my powerhouse PC desktop back home.

I've just bought a Macbook Pro and as I have so many windows VSTs installed bootcamp. I thought it would be seamless integration but I'm tearing my hair out over a few things:

1) the audio drivers on the 2009 macbook pro's are not setup right, apparently this is the same even if you're running bootcamp with Vista or XP. An interseting (if lengthy) discussion can be found here...

I finlly got some form of audio driver working but I have to manually change the audio output destination in preferences if I wanna change from speakers to headphones.

Also, the latency of just stop/starting is terrible. Has anyone else had this problem?

The other thing I forgot to do was to self contain all my tracks. I transferred all my samples onto an external drive but every time I open a set now I have to search for loads of missing samples. I wouldn't mind but it takes forever....I've resorted to manually locating each one through windows explorer but it breaks my heart when I open another set and have to do it all over again for some of the same samples.

Is there any way to set external folders as 'favorites' almost, much in the same way the library gets scanned and is quicker to search?

Any help greatly appreciated guys!

Cheers,
Ed
