OT: Who hombrews weird shit?
I have just bottled a home brewed green cordial. 2 litres of Cordial, 1.5kg of sugar, 22 litres of water and yeast. It took 10 days to stop fermenting, it felt like it singed my hair nose when I sniffed it. It has gone absolutely clear and is totally freaking me out. I am hoping some weird shit chemicals have formed which might expand my consciousness and inspire some new songs.

I made some dandelion wine once. I 'helped' it along with a bottle of vodka. It tasted like shite but it got me to places i never knew you could reach with alcohol.

i heard that the quality of most of the homebrewed stuff (beer/wine with sugar as a *helper*) is so bad that you shit your pants when you had too much due to the uncontrolled chemical process. and that it leaves a baaaad headache. this comes from a fellow musician who studied beer brewing in bavaria.
im sceptical and wouldnt try it,

this is what i heard, maybe the guy was biased because of his *studies*
i wouldnt try it myself anyways. you can buy a "kasten" of beer (24 bottles a 0,5 litres) for 6,50,- EURs over here in the supermarket.
so, no need to become a home chemicist, maybe because out of curiosity,

Man, to be honest, I haven't laid a solid shit in 20 years...I'm pretty convinced my insides are totally fucked....probably comes from dilluting my bourbon with vodka...just a personal thing I guess. I got into a batch of alco-ginger beer tonight. It definitely works but needs a bit more time to mature. I'm going to the shops in the morning to buy a couple of kilos of chillies to brew a chili concoction....and over the holidays I am tempted to build a still...ah shit, I really am fucked...

good when you want to get drunk for cheap.
bad when you have to deal/work with all the alcoholics.

Yeah - the Germans generally have things sorted. Cheap beer, good festivals, proper public transport and amazing music technology.
The Swedes know a thing or two as well - vodka, metal and world-class music hardware...
Whereas in England we have fear, paranoia, increasing social inequality and state intervention, intolerance, a parasitic financial overclass, an insane property market and no real industry.

Re: OT: Who hombrews weird shit?
Somebody needs to brew up some gruit! Psychotropic herbal hop-less beer! I had some in Vermont a couple of years ago and it was awesome!
Re: OT: Who hombrews weird shit?
I brewed a gruit sort of ale last year, but I tossed in an ounce of wormwood, and made it too bitter to enjoy. it would really mess you up though. It was 14%, and the psychoactive herbs do give it a different feel from typical beer. I also brewed a pale ale with henbane. It was good, but tasted earthy and very, very dry on the finish. Henbane beer is dehydrating and so it makes you more thirsty, the more you drink it... you can really get messed up if you're not careful.
