[ot]: How afraid are you of the future?

I ask in part because I am thinking about naming my next release having something to do with the subject.

An inability or a lack of will to look at the bigger picture = FAIL

On a lighter note, I just tried a battered mars bar for the first time. It was nice but it was wrong. Very wrong.....

the only thing that scares the hell out of me is the ultra fast and massive increase of stupid and uneducated people in wealthy countries.

i am particular speaking of my country, i was nearly 11 years abroad without interruption and the development within society here scares me to death!

Perhaps that's because in wealthy countries there is a 'safety net' i.e. benefits, dole money etc etc.

In poorer countries where there is no safety net people scramble for an education like their survival depends on it, and I guess in a lot of ways it does.

Just my 2c...

The past and the future are both illusions.

does it seem to you like the primary object has become to grab as much as possible, where thinking about making a better world is far down the list?

i totally see that as a reason for the development as well... but that is the scary part... there are more and more people being able to survive and even get rich with no brains and art and culture in there veins at all... that is sooo... scary to me.

i mean honestly i do not exaggerate (believe me i wish i would!) since i am back here (a bit over a year now) i have not witnessed any young person on the street or in public transport or wherever that is capable of creating one full and correct sentence in german, they all speak like monkeys. it is a serious issue. not to mention the general lack of any kind of knowledge and i am from a very basic background, family wise and school education wise and for me it's already like a fist in the face... go figure...

Time itself is an illusion, an illusion we create for ourselves based on our perception. The present is fleeting, all we have is our memory of what has passed and our anticipation of what's to come. So the present is an illusion as well. We cannot truly perceive "now-ness" because in effect all we are doing is remembering things that have passed, albeit things that may have passed within microseconds.
